Worldwide Photo Walk

Worldwide Photo Walk

Have you heard of the largest day of photography in the entire world? I may be wrong in this assumption, but I have to say it is the Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk, put on each fall (northern hemisphere).

The Worldwide Photo Walk is a day of photography put on by Scott Kelby and company at Kelby Media. How it works is basically anyone can volunteer to host a photo walk within any city in the world. Once you do that others can join your walk, and you all agree to meet up in a certain place at a particular time. Then simply walk around that space taking photos throughout the day.

It's a great time to meet other local photography enthusiasts, get out and take photos of somewhere you may have never been before, and learn along the way from everyone involved.

I have taken part in this a few times over the years, even winning the local prize for top photo at a walk in Toledo, Ohio (image is the featured image above.

The greatest gift these photo walks, or any random day of photography you want to get into, allow is the freedom to do whatever you want with the camera. In many professions, or even if we are taking side jobs in the field, we have a specific want from a client that needs to happen. Out here with a photo walk, it's all about what you want, what you see the beauty in. At the end of the day, only you will critique yourself, nobody else is there to ask anything further of you.
