Disney World Impressions

Over my lifetime, I've had the pleasure of visiting Disney World in Florida on several occasions. A couple of times as a kid, traveling from Ohio with my family on the 20 hour plus car ride in the back of a Chrysler minivan continually asking myself (and my parents) "are we there yet".

I have some memories as a child of the parks, mainly as I was a little older, but none have stuck in my mind quite like visiting as an adult. I have now had the privilege of that happening twice, about a decade apart, and a third time coming up soon.

While I enjoy the thrilling rides of attractions like Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom, or Tron: Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom, an often discussed piece of Disney World is it's beautiful scenery. As kids, however, I feel we probably overlook this, just trying to move on to the next ride and get as much thrill as we can out of the day.

In 2012, when I fist visited as an adult, is when I truly stood back to appreciate the beauty of some of these places. Below you will see some of my favorite images I've taken in the Disney World parks over my last two trips there.

Two images above and one below are hard to tell that you are even looking at a Disney World property. I could probably convince you that the clock is nearly anywhere in the world.

Below, while The Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Campanile (below) are near each other in Venice, they aren't quite that close so that could tip you off to Epcot more easily.

The trick with Disney World is producing photos that somehow, someway manage to not showcase the enormous crowd that is usually everywhere you walk. While showing the crowds can be part of the beauty itself, and really tell more of a story, I find the challenge of making it seem like I am nearly the only one in the part when taking a picture fascinating.

You'll notice here that all of these images manage to do that. However, also notice that there are only seven images. It's not an easy thing to do and 99% of the pictures I've taken while there fail to do so. Now does that make them bad pictures? Not at all. I want to show the people, especially on vacation we all want to capture those we are with and who we are sharing this wonderful moment with.

For a site like this though, I'll keep those images and moments private, so I wanted to showcase the other beauty found throughout the resorts and the different ways you can capture this on your next trip, if desired.
